The MECALO consortium is pleased to share the second edition of the project newsletter (March 2026), offering an overview of the most recent developments and activities carried out by partners across the consortium.
In this issue, readers can learn more about the successful testing of innovative carbon agglomerates developed for metallurgical applications, an important step toward more sustainable manganese production. The newsletter also highlights the internal technical workshop organised between LIST and PDC, which helped align modelling approaches and advance collaboration within the project.
In addition, the edition looks at MECALO’s participation in the CRU Silicon Market Forum in Lyon, where the project’s vision for low-carbon silicon production and circular carbon management was presented to an international audience of industry stakeholders.
The newsletter also explores the expected environmental and industrial impacts of the project, including its potential to support Europe’s transition toward more sustainable and resilient value chains for critical raw materials.
